Fender Custom Overwound 60s Jazz pickups?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm seriously considering getting these pickups. I use a 2008 Am. Standard jazz bass. From what I've gathered, they have a very aggressive midrange (which is a huge plus), slightly sweeter highs, and more bottom end.

Im just wondering what people's experience with them is? Is the low end tight or very open? Is the high end too weak? Any input/description of the tone would be fantastic, or comparisons to stock pickup sounds.

The lows are very "vintagey." They are a little loose or raw, which adds to the vintage vibe. The highs are fairly grindy, definitely a good amount of high mid presence. Sorry that was a bad way of describing them. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear about the midrange and high end. I play mostly prog rock, and I need that grind and midrange growl to cut through the mix.

I wouldn't mind a tad more detail on what you mean about a "vintagy" low end. I know it's hard to describe sound exactly. Thanks.
