i know they market them as overwound, but theyre actually underwound compared to the rest of the vintage replacements out there. ive owned a goofy amount of jazz bass pickups and its hard to say theres a best. different basses need different things. they dont suck though

Thanks for the response! Well, for $109 I figured what the heck...and I need single coils to replace the split coil Sadowsky's in it now. If they don't growl enough...out they will come! Any recomendations?

They growl very nicely. Fat low mids, nice, non-sparkly highs.

That is great to hear...and exactly what I am hoping for! This bass sounds incredible acoustically...just need the right pups to make that natyral tone shine!

Pretty dead on. A little higher output than stock MIA J. I sold mine cause I gotta have that high end sparkle.

im actually looking at getting these as well. i figure custom Fender pups with a decent price tag would be a great replacement for standard MIM pups.

let me know how they sound if you get them, looking forward to how this thread develops.

Thanks for the info fellas! I will definetely report back on this. My 73' jass currently has a Sadowsky 2 band pre in the control plate with passive active switch and I am torn between leaving it in, or dropping the original 73' plate and pots back in. I usually run the Sadowsky passive so I am leaning toward the 73' plate. Any thoughts?

Got rid of mine and replaced them with a pair of Joe Barden's. Difference is unreal.

I love mine. They make me grin all the time. I replaced my Nordys (which I like also) I just think the sc pups rip better. I use DR flats too.

I really want to try Nordy single coils sometime although I'm loving these Fenders! Are yours single coils?

I had them for a while and sold them. It was ok but microphonic because the potting was bad, and the coils were loose!
I would take the Aero Type1 and Nordstrand J single coils over them
