Finally replacing my bass's pickups

I have always owned the same bass. A four-string black Washburn T12. Though I'm thinking about buying a new one I still want to give the old one some new pickups. It has the original P-style ones.

http://www.washburn.com/products/basses/taurus/t12.php

What kind of pickups should I buy? Which are my best options? I'm completely new to this.

Thanks in advance!

First thing I would do is take PRECISE measurements to make sure P-Bass aftermarket pickups will drop right in. Judging by that picture I'm not so sure.

That's most important unless you don't mind altering you bass a bit.

As for as Pups go there's a lot of good ones out there depending what you're looking for. The above mentioned dimarizo's are a great pup. Pretty much can't go wrong with Semour Duncan 1/4 pounder or Aniquity ll IMHO.

What's wrong with the old pickups and what do you want out of the new ones?
