FWIW:

seems all the ones I've had go from ground to hot (long to short). But the only way to really know before you install is with a meter or maker diagram.

It's standard jack in warwick.. I'm putting new preamp in it, and the jack confuses me... I will try with meter.

if you didn't figure it out yet . . .

put a cord (NOT a homemade one) into the jack. Use the cable that you usually use from your bass to your amp (or FX pedals). Use the meter's resistance (ohms) mode OR it's continuity mode (usually marked with a "diode" - the meter "beeps" when you touch the two meter probes together). Touch the tip of the plug at the free end of the cord with one meter probe and the other meter probe to the terminals, one at a time. See which one of the terminals gives you 0.00 ohms (or "beeps"). That terminal is the "hot", or "+" terminal.
Do the same thing with the sleeve (ground) of that plug to find the ground terminal(s).

Good luck!
