Foam under pickups and resonance on vintage JazzBass

Hello

The foam under the pickups of my 67 JazzBass became harder and finer over the time
is there an effect on the resonance of the pickup?

Thanks

No, it has no affect on the sound. As a general rule, you want the pickup to be solidly mounted, and don't want it lose and bouncy.

The only thing it might affect is the ability to properly maintain pickup height, which in itself might affect the tone, but it won't directly affect the pickup's inherent tone.

Hello

We can't have microphonics troubles with a such finer foam..

Thanks

No effect on tone. If its not holding the pickup height well enough you can replace the foam with high density weather stripping (about $5 usd at most hardware stores)
