GB pickups ...Are they Active or passive?

Hey

My gb has a currently dead pre amp and I am considering my options as what to do. I have a few people look at it and didn't really want to touch it due to the unmarked pcb a cacophony of twisted wires and generally sloppy soldering. I love the sound though and haven't heard anything quite like it..

For the record I can say that the customer service that GB provided is well below par for a high end bass manufacturer. They are unhelpful and rude at the best of times.

Anyway looking at maybe ripping out the pre amp that is 15 years old and had a hard life and putting something more modern in like a East u retro and an Audere 3BZ. At the end of the day most of the sound of the bass comes from the materials its made of and the pickups

Question is are my pickups active or not?

How do I tell or does anyone know?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cool beans
