GL Jazz question:
I own Geddy Lee Jazz bass with a J-East preamp. I am quite content with my tone yet I have read some good things about 1/4 lb ers. Any opinions?

QPs are loud, boosted, grindy pickups; they might be too much if you already have an onboard preamp. if you like your tone now, these would be very different.

I have QP's on a Jazz and P and I have found that they sound way better WITHOUT a preamp. On my Jazz they are very hot and I had to lower them slightly and adjust the amps EQ accordingly.

I liked the QP's when I had them but I ended up preferring the DiMarzio Model P and J for that kind of thing. Both have reduced highs and more forward low mids but the DiMarzio gets the edge in upper mid content.
