Glock and Barts
Anyone rocking this combination? I initially ordered a Delano Sonar 3 band for my Lakland 55-01 which currently has a full US Bart setup but something went screwy with the preamp. Well, the company sent me a Glock 3 band by mistake but allowed me to keep it. Pickups are Bart MK5CBC's. I hear the Glocks are really nice but what pickups are they usually matched with?

I had a Glock 3 band in my 55-01. It came with it when I bought it used and at the time it had the MK1s but I then upgraded to the MK5s. Overall I really liked the transparency of the Glock as well as the ability to go passive. My only issue was I kept chasing a crackle that drove me nuts so I switched to a Bart pre in my frustration. I love the Bart pre for slap as it has a great tone, but for rock playing I really miss the Glock.
I really liked the eq sweep on the Glock vs the Bart. So, the real question is whether it works for you!

Well, the Glock is in. Have to go pick it up today. Tech said I need new strings as well. I'll report back.

I have the Glock with Bart Classic series SBs in my Pedulla. I have coil switching on this, too. I really love the single coil tone. This is my #1 bass. I really like this combo. It totally changed the character of that rather dark sounding bass. Now it gets really crispy and funky with no noise.

Well...it seems the issue is with my pickups as the bass sounds exactly the same. Wasted my money on a new preamp! Gah! Ok, now....what pickups do I put in there? I'm inclined to go find a set of MK-1's on the cheap.

I have the 3 band Glock in my Adamovic. Itīs a very hi-fi transparent pre-amp. I love it cause when I have to boost or cut it sound natural to my ears. The treble is at 18khz, love to boost that high

I've got Glock w/Delanos on my Human BaseX.oc5. Hunting around for a soundclip. Friedland did a video on it, but not much for how it sounds through his camera. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3r6GAqHu4E
Sits in a mix wonderfully, lots of compliments on my tone. I dial the bass up a little to get warmth into it. Without, it's a bit mechanical. Good array of options, though.

I like the Glock preamp as well as the US Bartolini 5.2AP that I had in there. Somewhere along the line the pickups stopped putting out highs especially with the treble control in the centered position. I have to turn it up ALL the way where I didn't have to do that before. Very annoying as I never turn the treble all the way up on any of my basses. Money wise I'm tapped out now so I need pickups on the cheap. And honestly, the old stock MK1's didn't sound bad at all with the US Bart pre. Shoulda left well enough alone!

Huh. If it sounded good when they first got installed, maybe check the wiring? I dunno, I hand my stuff over to a guy and go "Ooh magic" when it comes back (:
Finally found and chopped up a video clip that you can kinda hear the Glock/Delano mix. Know you're tapped out, but it took me an hour to find it, so here!&%#~ heheh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sErgqljY9g

Thanks for the video. The bass still sounds good but just when I want to slap, I can't get anything unless I dime the treble knob. I didn't have to do that previously. I had quite enough in the middle position and I would just boost the treble a little. I get nothing unless the treble is maxed. It's gotta be the pickups as it sounds exactly the same with either preamp. My tech is very good with electronics. He's an engineer by trade! I doubt it's the wiring. In fact I asked him to re-wire it yesterday to parallel and that gave me a LOT of high end but I lost gain and also the volume buzzes unless it's dimed. If I bring the volume down, it'll start buzzing. I like it better wired in series. Just get my treble back!! Gah!

Something with the pickups... Those are the same ones in my Pedulla (different shell).
I can attest to the fact that the Glock and those pickups produce a great slap tone.
