So anyways I just got a super sweet late christmas gift and figured I'd pop it open and take a peek inside.
Just look at that quality tone wood pickguard!

This is an old FBass Studio 6 I bought several years ago. I've since sold it.
The bass has the old Pe-Eq preamp plus an Alembic filter. Each preamp has its own volume and the bass could be run mono, stereo or split stereo with each pre on a side. Power was via an external battery box or outboard power supply.
The bass came with a 20+ page schematic manual. Whoever did it was a madman! |

Not pretty-- I've changed the insides so many times I got tired of making it look nice. No one will ever see it anyway...Right?...Oops! That's my homemade single transistor preamp hanging out.
It looked even worse before this time when I had installed a 6 position switch for tone with no cap on the first contact, then 4 different value caps and then a direct short to act as a mute switch.

Its getting all back in there that scares the electronics tech out of me. There are a lot of people who would be interested in the 20 page schematic for that, just to get ideas.

I suspect the reverse P idea might help with the two high strings often having too much zing relative to the E and A. I always wonder why Leo did it "backwards".
I think there are 10 possible hum cancel combos on a quad. How did you end up with those?
The thumbwheels are slick - did not notice that when I saw this post before (thought they were slide switches til I saw the underside).
Very cool johnk! |
