Hamer B12s Output is HOT!!!!!!!!!
Perhaps a bit TOO hot.
The previous owner had this issue and ended up disconnecting the preamp circuit. He felt this improved the situation.
I'm looking at possibly going two other ways:
1. Installing some kind of mini trim pot in the control cavity. This way, I could precisely tailor the output level and keep all the other elements in play;
2. Completely re-doing the electronics, replacing the EMG's with passive pickups and very simple volume, volume, tone control configuration.
Any thoughts out there?
Roll back the volume a little? I was doing that today with my US SUB4 and it was controlling the overdrive from my amp the way guitar players do.
Yeah, that's why they come with volume controls. No way I would gut a B12 just because it was high output. That's crazy. It'd be like turning down a horny hot chick just because you didn't care for the color of her shoes.
Could you post some photos of the preamp module?
