help me! Pickups dead So i changed the picguard on my black top pbass with out touching anything else, didnt move the pots or anything and now it doesnt work. The pickups barley produce sound and when pluged in. If i knock on the body its loud through the amp but barley any sound from the pickups..i dont get it.. |
Provide pics, that might help. On my Fender P, the pots and jack are attached to the pickguard, so you have to remove them and install them onto the new pickguard. If you've done that, you may have pulled one of the soldered connection off by accident. |

So it seems to work when i touch the pots with my hand but even then its still noisy and all the wiring appears to be in order ... grounds are solid or so they seem to be unless im missing somthing .. if anything else is needed to assist please let me know |
Maybe you pulled the ground wire under the bridge loose? |
A loose bridge ground wire may give some extra hum, but shouldn't decrease the output. The pots in the pics look okay to me. What we don't see, is the wiring to the output socket. This could be loose or shorted. I guess the wires from the pickups are okay. |

Try plugging up with the scratch guard off. that way you can wiggle wires around gently to test. |
