Ive had a $75 4-string P-bass Peavey project lying around for a while now. I already routed it for a MM pickup in the bridge. ...Now, I also have a Duncan Bassline J neck pickup lying around, and theres plenty of room for it. How would this sound, with all 3 different kinds of pickups (J neck P mid MM bridge), and how do you guys recommend I wire it? 3-way switch? On and off switches? 3 volumes +1 tone? Dunno if this has ever been done before, but I'm thinkin' its gonna be pretty sick.....

the only problem would be the pole spacing on the J pup

The spread of the pups will cover any tone issues (you will have a ton of bass on the neck pup and if you put the bridge pup about 1-1/2" from the bridge alot of treble).
Or 3 volumes and a stacked tone, neck-mid one tone, bridge the other. Thats how I did it, but after it was done I wish I didn't install the tone. |

I aint even gonna bother re-painting it, which it really needs. Also, I'm using a vinyl record for the pickguard. lol, Any recommendations on a record? I was thinking Dark Side of the Moon.

One thing I did forget to mention, the pups I used where a calibrated set-7k, 10k and 15k. It gave a balanced overall sound.

I imagine that the jazz with 0% tone and the MM with 100% tone will get you a huge sound. Couple that with a 75% tone P-pickup (all full-on, or at relatively balanced levels - easily fixed with some trim pots hidden in the cavity) and you'd have the worlds fullest, most sexiest tone ever.
Now I want to do this since I just routed out the MM cavity in my p-bass....

How the heck would I go about wring 3 on and offs/3 tones? Sounds complicated as hell. =\ And yeah, Im thinking either Icarus or the Floyd Prism would look hot.
