Hey EMG gurus!

Sign in to disble this ad
I want to know if a BQC onboard preamp SYSTEM will work with EMG Selects as this system works with EMG pickups only, are he Selects connected the same as the regular EMGs I couldn't find any info on the site.

No, Selects are regular passive pickups.

No.

The "BQC System" is not for passive EMGs like the selects. The "BQC Control" can be used with passive p'ups.

That being said, if you take an EMG "System" and clip off the blend and volume pots, you now have a "Control" preamp. The "Systems" are just the "Controls" with blend and volume pots of the appropriate values for active EMGs

You want different value volume pots for a low-impedance active EMG than for a passive.

In summary, with a few wire cuts, you can transform an EMG System into an EMG Control.

Hope that helps.

yep, the "system" is just the "control" pre-wired into a harness for emg pickups.

that said, i would recommend dumping those selects (we call them emg "rejects" in my part of town) for something that sounds good out of the gate, rather than trying to fix them with the EQ circuit.

Just change the volume pots to 250K or 500K and it will work.

I have a BTC System that was used with active EMG's. Now I use it with my passive pickups. I just had to replace the blend and volume pots for values that work with hi-z pickups.

So yes, it will work if you change the pots.

If you are buying it new, get the control and not the system version.
