high pitch squeal/tone from jazz bass pups

I get a high pitch squeal when I engage my Fulltone Bass Drive pedal. This only happens with my Jazz bass which has Anitquity II's. Is there something wrong with the pups or is it something else? I am assuming it has something to do with the gain being increased through the pedal.
