Horrendous wiring or user-error? [epiphone eb-3]

Sign in to disble this ad
Having trouble getting the pickups to blend.

There is pretty much a tiny sweetspot and going either way just a nudge is indistinguishable from just selecting a pickup with the three way switch.

It seems strange that the hilariously high output neckbucker completely disappears at a cats-whisker under 9.2 or so.

Anyway; Am I an idiot or is something wrong? (or both.)

You'll need to post either a wiring diagram or a high-res photo of your bass innards.

Well, if you can see anything from this.
I tried holding the wires away but they all liked to bend at the connections...

Volumes: http://i45.tinypic.com/jszwjq.jpg [centerish is the neck pup]

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the taper of the pot could have a very steep drop off. Whether that would be due to the design or some sort of damage, I can't say.

That's such a wiring mess i can't see what's going on.

I would just bring it to a tech to rip everything out and replace with quality components, good wires and PROPER wiring.

Or i could do that myself.

Thanks guys, it means alot to know I'm not crazy.

Well if rewireing is what it's gonna be, might as well wait till I'm a bit more proficient at soldering and then wire it how I want (with a master volume and a blend rather than individual volumes.)
