hot pickups

MIM fender pbass...got it used about a month ago. In good condition except for some bridge tweeking. The pickups also seem really hot. It if i pick a certain way it sounds like the speakers are clipping but the light on the amp doesnt always show clipping. I have adjusted pickup height and am still having this issue. Do I just need to keep my volume down?

It sounds more like an amp issue to me. Are the strings hitting the pickups?

That happened to me on my p-bass. It's the string hitting the pick up.

Are these the stock MIM P pickups? They shouldn't be that hot (not weak, just not overly hot).
