How can you tell HC from SC Sadowski's

Sign in to disble this ad
There's a music store a long way from me, who has some Sadowsky J pups for sale cheap. But the guy on the phone said there's no model number or anything. He says it just says Sadowsky on them. How can I tell if they're single coil or hum canceling? I need pups for a '72 fender jazz. Any thoughts on using these?

Look in the cavity, the HCs have 3 or 4 wires per pickup instead of 2. And the HC wires are green.

Plug it in and solo a pickup. Is it dead quiet, or is there a bit of hum?

I don't think the music store is going to let the OP put them in a bass to do that.

Older HC's have 4 or 5 wires. All of them have red, green and the Black and white are connected. Some have a gray wire which is a pole ground.

Newer HC's have 3 wires, green, red and gray.

SC's, one p/u has a yellow and black and the other p/u has white and black wires.
