how do different capacitors change the sound

Sign in to disble this ad
How does the mf rating on a capacitor change the sound?
I'm putting 500k pots in my bass, and I don't know which type of capacitor to use.

By the way, its going to be a vol/tone vol/tone setup. I'm using 500k pots because I've got two humbuckers.

Thanks

A fairly detailed thread that already exists and might answer your question: Talk to me about capacitors.

In a passive pass, the tone control is a filter created by an interaction between the pot and the cap. Both values are interactive. If you're changing the pot value then you may need to experiment with different cap values to find the tone rolloff that you like.
