How do I bypass or not go through the preamp in an active fender? (passive wiring)

is there a way to simply not go through the installed preamp in a fender active bass? how can this be done?

i think "fredguy" did this by wiring his bass like a '62 reissue but the wiring diagrams on mrgearhead.com seem a litle confusing to me in some areas. has anyone else re-wired their bass like his and can post pictures of the wiring job?

FWIW:

have no clue about the specific wiring you're referring to be a by-pass switch is used for passive mode. You can look at any by-pass to get an idea of how it can be wired, Bart and aguilar have diagrams and the Fender site has a slew of diagrams and some of them should have a passive mode. If none of it makes sense to you in looking at it, you're better off just taking it to a tech who will probably do it for roughly $20. Not a complex/expensive procedure unless something's wierd.
