I'm playing an Ibanez SR500 through a GK 700RBII head and GK gold line 8x10. I'm a very busy bass player and I spend a lot of time on runs in the mid/high range, but the tone i'm looking for seems to get lost when the rest of the band is playing. I am looking for more clarity and to hear each note that I play, but when I add more highs I just hear lots of clicking and I lose the warmness of the lows. My bass has an active EQ, but to be honest I'm not sure how to work it b/c when I try to use it the EQ redlines my head. Any suggestions? |

When my Ashdown's tweeter was still active and I added treble, I got clarity and mix presence, but a lot of harsh, unmanagable fret noise too. Without the tweeter, adding treble gives me clarity and brightness. |

You can cut thru the mix without adding so much treble. Also try turning your volume down till you find the right sound/frequency you want to boost. Sounds like you've got more than enough amp/speakers. If you can hear it at a low volume then you can turn it up.
Plus, there is a reason they call the instrument the 'bass'. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
