My mid tone knob on my fender deluxe bass broke i just got a replacment... I know there is some soldering involved which is fine but i couldnt find any instructions on how to install it exactly |

| | | the repair guy i brought it to desoldered than said he didnt have the part ... so i dont think i can do that  this was like a month ago...
Im also wondering that because its my MID tone knob... since its not hooked up could the mids be messed up on my bass? it seems like the mid is maxed out |

So it sounds like in the specific case of your preamp, maximum resistance means maximum mids. The pot is a variable resistor. If it's missing, and the wires are just sitting in space, well it doesn't get much more resistive than that. The problem will go away as soon as you install the pot. Since the original pot is gone, you have two basic choices: One, contact the manufacturer and ask for a wiring diagram. Some manufacturers have those ready to DL on their website. Two, experiment. There are only three solder tabs on that pot, and there are only so many combinations of connections possible, and you won't hurt or break anything by trying it a couple of different ways. |

No recommedations to your bandmates/friends for a tech of that scatterbrained mentality.. he doesn't deserve any. |
