| How do I test a Nordstrand MM4.3 !?!?

We had a problem installing a MM4.3 in my project bass. It is a J/MM configuration and could never get the MM4.3 working with the J-Retro. Lots of hum... I do have a digital multimeter and would like to know how I can go around testing this pickup to see if it functioning properly or defective... Not sure what leads I should test and what readings I should get. There is a red/green/white/black and bare wire.
(I did get a set of Delano's J/MM humbucking and they sound great!!!)
