How do I wire a Tone Pot?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've used the search feature but could quite locate what I was looking for.

I'm building a P bass and want to know how to put the tone pot in.

Titan body, mighty mite P Bass neck, dimarzio model P
I think I have 500k pots, I might have some 250k ones too. which should I use?

Do I need a capicitor? what kind?

or, if this has been discussed already and you know of the thread, can someone direct me to the URL?

thanks

Cap value in the .pdf is 22nF, but I've seen some use 47nF too. Caps are cheap and a minute to solder in so if you find the range too skewed towards the treble, get a larger cap. Not enough treble a smaller one. A 2x difference would be a good place to start.

Caps are contentious, but anything in those values you can get from Ratshack or similar will be fine (non-electrolytic or tantalum). I have a preference for Sprague 'Orange Drops'.
