how to protect large pole pickups from rust?

Hallo folks

Recently I upgraded my bass with Delano large pole pickups, and now I'm little concerned about rust. I live near sea, pretty windy here also, means lot of salt and moisture which caused my pups getting rusted easy in the past.

Now I mostly use covered pickups, but these are very nice and I would like to keep them that way

Is there any way to do this, some removable lacquer or something?

thanks in advance

Use clear nail lacquer (nail polish) to coat the tops. It doesn't affect the sound, but it seals them off from the air.

Yup, had an old Stingray with slightly rusty pole pieces. Buffed them up and put clear nail varnish on there and problem solved. (The repair man at the Bass Centre London gave me this advice)
