I apologize if this a thread thats been posted before, and yes I used the search button, but honestly which do you guys prefer?

Also do hums give more of a grindy-type tone ALA stingray?? or is it more to do with EQ's and amps ??

I can actually say I prefer the Splitcoils..
I just replaced a set of expencive, "handmade", "customwound" singles with a set of
DiMarzio Splitcoil UltraJazz PU's..
They lack that muddy mids.. sure.. if thats what your looking for.. don't pick UJ's.. pick Model J's instead..
Stil.. the days of singles are over imho...

Fat singlecoils, like soapbars, are my preference. My Status pickups are articulate, punchy, refined, fat, everything in between. I don't like the boxy sound you get from humbuckers, and some single coils can sound a bit "thin", so I prefer the middle ground.
