hurricane in my bass

Sign in to disble this ad
hello guys n girls my maverick 4 string has just developed a problem

when its plugged in it fizzes and hums it sounds like hurricane andrew is in my amp a quick bash to the back seems to be a temporary fix also sometimes when its plugged in the output will be very low but after i give it a bash its back at full volume

it does not appear to be an earthing problem as both problems happen if i'm touching the strings/bridge/pickup etc

any ideas?

Loose wire, bashing it must be shaking it into place.

hi you might have a dirty input jack! a few passes of fine emery cloth or fine file where it contacts your cable jack might do the trick its worth a try. good luck to you!!!

hurricane

hi i dont know if your bass has rear loaded controls or if they are mounted to a pickguard, either way you have to open it up and do a visual inspection, wires may be contacting each other , seperate all wires and look for possible loose conections, tape off any bare wire with electical tape. reasemble and give it a go!! let me know how it turns out. good luck
