I tried raising my pup, and the screw was already stripped. Well, I didn't notice this until after I started. I tried tightening it, and I just stripped it more. What do I do???????

Is it protruding, or is it flush with the pickup?

See if you can grab the head of the screw with needle nose vice grips and turn it out that way.

Remove the rest of the screws and use the pickup to pull up on the stripped screw, while gently turning the screw if necessary.

Will it make a tone difference if the pickup is not even on both sides? Or, if the neck pup is lower than the bridge pup? If not, I'm not even going to mess with it.

Mine striped on this 3000 dollar bass (I cant beleive the Luthiers are so cheap, they wont use inserts)

I put a quarter inch of toothpic in each hole, and screws work fine now.
