Not trying to steal anyones idea, something common and simple would be best. The Prof. wants us mechanical guys to find a common and simi-simple multi transistor design. So far I have only come up with a simple one transistor single stage amp design.

http://www.sevenwoodsaudio.com/AN12.pdf This pdf has a great multi-opamp EQ circuit.

http://www.albertkreuzer.com/preamp_onboard.htm This is a cool 3-transistor preamp.

Duh, just realized I'm expected to have a moving part, I found an interesting paper that tested a mic designed so that the membrane acts as the gate to a transistor. If I can design concept with a similar transistor mic integrated with the 3-transistor preamp above I think that will be enough mechanical motion and transistors to be accepted by my professor.

Thanks for the links Bongo. Everyone's designs will be on one wafer so I wont be able to do a real world test, however, the thought of building a micro-scale condenser mic with a dedicated preamp voiced for bass that could all fit under one string should keep the class exciting.

Sounds neat! Please keep us updated with your project, I'm sure the nerds among us will be fascinated.
