I hate batteries need advise

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys

I have a G&L ASAT, and love the feel, the passive sound and look of those big ol'e pick ups but I hate the batteries. I really only use the bass in the passive posistion, so my question is

Is there anyway to have the same passive pick up tone with out all the active stuff that I don't use?

if I can turn this thing into a passive bass I would probly keep it , but as is I may have to trade it for a simlpe jazz or pbass.

I am not looking to replace the pick ups I just don't want to have to change batteries ..

thanks
jim

If you always leave it in passive, why not just leave it that way?

Yep, you can even play it without the battery in. Nice feature. Some people say they prefer that tone.

If you like the passive tone, then just switch to passive leave the batts out. If you just hate batts, rewire your guitar to use a 9v or 18v supply through a TRS cable. I did - my pedal board and guitars are all battery free.

Like everyone said, you are already using it passive. The tone controls still work in passive as well. The preamp is just a boost, and I think it boosts the highs as well.

The big question is why do you hate batteries? You are playing an electric bass plugged into an amplifier that is powered. It's all the same thing really.

Just leave your bass switched in passive and take the battery out. The pickups and tone controls don't need the battery.
