I was sitting around today and got to thinking. I love the look and sound of Darkstar pickups....but i also love my P. Since a Darkstar is basically a single coil...would placing one behind the pickguard and the bridge work with a P? Pros? Cons? input?

What do you mean by "behind the pickguard"?
Under the plastic like a MM phantom coil?

how do you place one behind the bridge? You could put one under the pg, but the DS needs a deep hole and that would make it deeper. Also, you'll get lower output by moving the pup farther from the strings, not to mention the difference in tone.

I think the OP must have meant "between" the pickguard and the bridge, like the J on a P/J.

Buy a new bass and put a Darkstar in it. Then you can rock your P or your Darkstar.

Yes I meant between the bridge and the pickguard....nyquil will make you post some funny stuff. while i like the idea of having both, another bass is not economicaly feasible for me at this point. (translation: my wife won't let me buy another one )
