Last week I played a gig and we played out side in a 100 degree weather, I guess when I sweated It got down in to my Pickups and shorted the bottom one out, so I used my backup a P with emgs. This is twice Ive replace th pickups in this bass. Its a 2006 USA fender with that stupid anyway I think stupid S1 switching I just never used it. But anyway Iam tired of the sound, on a whim I ordered some Bartolini 8s pickups for it, because I like a very low end and I do play some Jazz. I hope I didnt screw up. Iam using a 700 SWRworkingpro with a 210 Aguilar and a Peavey low rider 18 cab. I also use flat wound strings. So what do you guys think I did
, screw up are not. They had to order the pickups and Iam going to have a Pro put them in and change the pots. Iam crazy yes. You tell me. They cost more then the Fender pickups.

Some guys like the sound. Who knows? I haven't tried that pickup. I prefer another brand. You won't find any agreement here on what the best pickup is. It's all a matter of personal taste.

I'd find out why you're destroying pickups first off. Is it because sweat drips on them?

If you don't like the S1 switch have a tech change the wiring back to the regular P setup.

I installed an 8S and 9J pair in my Cort headless 25 years ago. I like the warm tone when rolled off and it cuts when needed when the tone nob is dimed. The barts are sealed completely, no chance for a sweat kill. When playing this bass I mostly used the 8S solo.

I just installed the Bartolini 8CBP pickups in my P bass and I love them. To me it sounds a lot better then the stock Fenders. Warmer and fuller sound. Great on all types of music, like I said love them best money Ive spent in along tome. Great with flatwound strings. Ill play my first gig with them Saturday.

Here is the thing that I found with stock p-bass electronics, by them selves, they sound pretty boring. They sound great in the mix, IME, IMO etc.
