Ebay .... 250k CTS

Not sure if a MIM is a solid or split shaft pot, pull the knob off and check. If you use a "no-load" pot, you can take the pot completely out of the circuit when its full on. In other words, all tone gets out of your bass to the amp.

$5.00 for a CTS pot at just about any music store. If you want to fix it yourself, it's an easy solder job. Pull your picguard off. It's most likely a push on knob, and if so get a split shaft pot so it fits the knob. If you find you have CTS pots and a switchcraft jack, good, just replace the bad pot. If you have Chinese pots and jack, upgrade both pots to CTS, and put in a switchcraft jack. All will cost about $13.00. You can get a basic Weller solder iron for $15 at Home Depot, and use 63/37 rosin core solder from Radio Shack. Do it yourself, plus get the tools for future use for about the same cost of a tech doing it. You will need flux as well to solder the ground wires to the pots, though this can be done without it. Look online for soldering tips, and practice soldering before actually doing it.

have you taken the knob off to make sure it isn't just the knob spinning, silly I know, but sometimes it's the silly stuff that will get you.
