I just noticed something about my pickup covers.

Earlier when I was checking out the pots and caps on my bass, I noticed that the pickup covers on my Fender MIM Standard Jazz V are different.

The cover on the neck pup cover is all smooth while the top of the bridge pup cover is textured.

Do they come like that stock or could they be different pickups and/or covers?

I don't really want to take them out, since I don't have a pickup height measuring tool.

I bought the bass used a few years ago, so I can't be sure.

I've never heard of a new Fender Jazz with different covers? Either its a different pickup (my guess) or a different pup cover on the old pup. You'll have to pull them out to check, Its really easy and just measure the distance they are below the strings before you pull'em

Hmm...

Perhaps make some markings on a straight edge before I pull 'em?

I'll do it if it's not stock.

What should I be looking for when I pull them out?

I think it's a stock pickup.

I have the Fender MIM Standard Jazz V. There are noticeable differences. The covers are the same, but I have not removed them. I will be replacing next week and can take a closer look when my SCN pups come in.
