...but I can't find that thread (my apologies). Just curious about why the PU configuration of a neck single coil plus a bridge MM-type humbucker is pretty common, but I haven't seen the opposite. Is there a technical reason for this? Thank you in advance for your input!

ive always wondered about this myself, always seemed to me to make more sense exploiting the extra low end of the humbucker by having it in the neck position and the single coil in the bridge position

I've seen some Warrior basses with that configuration. Never played one though.
