Exclamation I need new pickups!

I have a Warwick Rockbass that has the P/J style pickups.

I know a guy that has offered to "rewire" the bass and put in new pickups for me if i buy them (a friend of my band), but i wanted to get other suggestions on brands of pickups to get...i konw nothing about them, and the different styles they produce.

He mentioned that replacing and rewiring the bass would make plenty of difference (it was made in korea) before i go and start buying compression pedals, etc.

I play thru an ampeg SVT-CL head and 810 cab. I prefer the thick sound.

Any good suggestions?

Take a look at the Basslines Quarter Pounder series of P and J pickups. They're my favouritefor sound.

Yes, you'll be able to improve the sound of your Korean Warwick with these pickups at least. If that's not enough for you then look at getting a better amp and speaker setup. I hate compressors and effects myself. But that's me. You may still want them.

Sorry-I just notice you have a monster Ampeg setup. Well, if the pickup change doesn't do it for you, add another 8X10.

If it's active, I would suggest changing the preamp as well for an Aguilar OBP or something. The electronics on my active warwick were crap, so I can only imagine what they will be putting on rockbasses.

I have been impressed with the DiMarzio P/J set! Very bold and aggressive sounding. They are anything but "thin" in terms of tone. Most reviews I've read on the P and J pups from them are extremely impressive on here and even Bass Player mag (DiMarzio won the "Top Tone Award" in the pickup shootout), etc. Plus, they won't kill you financially! Oh, they are very hot as well (high output).
