Sign in to disble this ad
I have a fender MIM jazz V, with an audere Jz3 and a badass bridge that i want to drop new pup's into, i also don't want to spend a load of loot on these, its not my main play. which is a Lakland 55-02. i play older rock, hendrix, stones, some blues, R-n-B. through and ampeg tube amp.
any suggestions, anything for sale?

Nordstrands, Aeros and Fralins are good choices

Nubs, do yourself a favor, read SMASH's J pickup roundup. its a sticky, above. All you need to know, and more. You have to decide what sound you're looking for, vintage, modern, hot, etc. We cant tell ya that man.

$100 for a set? Hmm.
Seymour Duncans run like...what, $150~ or so?

Maybe you can find some used. I'm not too sure.

Seymour Duncan "Hot for Jazz". My fretless is setup just like your jazz, Audere pre and badass bridge. They sound so awesome! Very warm and punchy. Its like I always say about Duncan pickups, they just sound musical. Around $115-$125.00 for a set. BTW, your avatar creeps me out.

You might try adjusting the pickup heighth of the pickups it's loaded with now....That can change the sound of an instrument quite a bit. If they still aren't doing it for you, there have already been some great options listed. I've been blown away by Delano pickups. The guy who builds them can build just about anything you want. If you want more of a vintage sound, he can wind them a little darker...They are some of the best pickups I've ever used. www.delano.de
I know he makes a standard jazz bass sized pickup set.
