I need a pickup that fits inside a 3.5 x 1.5" cover

Im building a jazzmaster bass and need pickups that will fit inside a jazzmaster pickup cover (internal dimensions 3.5 x 1.5"). So far only the single coil p-bass pickups seem to fit. Anything else?

I know I will have to consider pole vs. string spacing. But that is a later problem. Just let me know of any pup that is small enough to fit. Thanks!

A Peavey Super Ferrite will fit. It measures 3.43" x 1.18". It's a single coil. I'm not sure, but I think it's a blade type so string spacing won't be a problem. Unfortunately. it's epoxy potted so separating it from its case will be fun.

Nordstrand, Bartolini, Delano, SGD, and a slew of other pickup builders can build pickups to fit that sizing. In fact, because that's a common size, I believe they all make pickups with those exact specs.

EMG 35-** Pickups all fit that sizing, but they're epoxy potted, so you likely wont get them out of the plastic casings that they're already in.

I usually don't talk about my own picjups, but if you cant find what you are looking for shoot me a message. I can custom build you most anything you need. David Schwab on is also a good pickup builder you could try.

Yes, a custom pickup might be my best option. The dream for my project would be a jazzmaster shaped pickup that sounds like a darkstar pickup. Can this be done? I have no idea what makes the darkstar sound so good.

Dumb question..
Why not glue a ferrite or bart inside your other cover?.. don't bother removing the plastic box..
