i need a quick answer

i just refinished an old lotus p-bass and swapped out the neck. and i'm in the process of putting it back together. does a certain pickup need to be in a certain position, or can they go either way? thanks in advance, i'm dying to hear this thing

Install it, and if it doesn't sound good, switch them.

They need to correspond with the knobs if they are the same kind of pick up. If they're different, the neck pick up needs to be at the neck and the bridge pick up needs to be at the bridge. These are just general rules however...

The pole piece heights may be different on each. It would be a good idea (if possible) to check the online specs for the pickup.
