Hi folks.. nice easy question for ya!!

I have posted over on a UK forum to ask the question, but as you guyz in the rest of the world have a greater selection / outlet for components, I'm asking of your collective all consuming mind to help me with a little problem!

I need a switch. Black.. thats the easy bit.. It only need be an SPST straight on off switch, but DPDT etc is not a problem.

The cut out size is a problem though. Without boring you with the details.. it just needs to fit an 8mm hole. (M8) otherwise known a 5/16" I believe.

I bought a 'gibson style' switch (actually a 3 way type) advertised as 5/16" .. but.. the ad was wrong... it is much larger.

oh, I really really do not want to have to enlarge the hole, if I can help it.

Good Luck! I look forward to hearing from you all.

Dan

6mm switch + 1 or 2 stacked O-rings depending on your application with a 1 mm diameter and an 8 mm OD.

I think that'll pretty much have to be the way. The next size down is 6.3mm (1/4") so may have to pad the hole out.

I have been searching t'interweb for a good hour or so, with no real joy on the 8mm front.

FYI - lots of 1/4" switches are really 6mm shafts.
The o-ring will work in either case.

.25" = 6.35mm FYI

Tolerance below consideration, IMO.
