I removed the tone pot

I removed the tone pot from a pj bass after it started to fail. And now when I turn down the 2 volumes they dont turn totally off. Any one know why this is happening? I was thinking that i dont need the tone pot since I allways have it full on .

Unfortunatley it doesnt work like that. When the pot is full on then it will have a certain resistance. You would have to take a multi meter to the pot when set to full on, find the resistance and replace the pot with a resistor of the same value.

Ok, I think I get it. So a volume control does not turn down to the point of total disconect?

Im guessing that the lack of tone pot is affecting the total resistance of the guitar circuit. Did the volume work completley when the tone pot was there? Sorry, my electronics theory is a little rusty!
