with a new "Fender P-bass Original" but I didn"t change the J-bass pickup. P-bass pickup sounds great. J-Bass sounds good enough. But when they are blended evenly they phase each other out. Sounds like a piece of crap transistor radio with a 1" speaker. Super low-fi sound. What up with that and how can I fix it. Any help would be highly prized. Thank you.

The pickups are out of phase with each other. Switch around the hot and ground wires on one or the other of the pickups.

Thats what i thought also. But I am pretty sure that I put the leads in the right place. Black soldered to the top of the volume pot. White to the center post of the volume. I will try swaping them.. Thank you.

There isn't necessarily a "standard" between manufacturers on polarity/phasing, so even though you correctly wired the hot and ground leads, the pickups can still be out of phase with each other if they came from different manufacturers.
