I've had my Schecter Stiletto Elite 4, for about....4 months now. To be honest I love the feel of the bass, but the sound I've been getting just is not what I'm looking for.
The sound is too...I don't know how to descripe it, but I'd like to replace them with money I get for Christmas.
I wouldn't mind replacing the Pre-amp also, does anyone know what model EMG preamp is in this bass?

I want to have a deeper punchier sound, where my highs don't sound so strange. What would be a good pickup to get?
Also, Would I have to do some routing, because I already use a battery for the Pre-amp, would i have to use a seperate battery for the pickups if i get active ones.

one battery does all. a forumite did an extensive test of most emg models into a schecter last year (DC, CS, P, J) don't remember who that was off the top of my head.

i decided on a DC and CS mostly from those sound clips and i'm quite happy with the improvement. i also switched the preamp from the stock 2 band emg to the bqc system with 3 band eq and sweepable mid. this definitely improved all you are hoping to achieve with my schecter c-4

david schwab, sgd lutherie on the boards, makes a pickup that would work well in a schecter. there are a few other after market pickups available that are slipping my mind at the moment as well.

The DCs are HOT pickups, but I quite like them. I've got them in my Schecter. It's got a rather aggressive sound.

For something with a bit more versatility and warmth, I might recommend you throw some TWs in. You can get all of the humbucker sounds you want, but each one can be run as a single coil as well, for a more jazz-like sound. I'll be putting them in my Spector when I get the chance.

I think you'll find that your tone is significantly improved with just the pickup swap. If you absolutely want to swap the preamp as well, I'd recommend going with one of the 3-band EMG options. BestBassGear can pre-wire some for you in specific configurations, but you may be required to drill an extra hole in your bass for another knob if you can't get them all stacked.
