I want new pickups

Sign in to disble this ad
hi just asking for advice here.. i have a schecter studio 5 and im wanting to get new pickups for it as im not really happy with the EMG-HZ's.. i was thinking also that i want to replace them with active pickups. would there be any dramas in doing that as it already has the active 3 band eq, like would i need to install more batteries to the circuit for the active's or just connect them up in the same circuit as the 3 band eq..and if so then what would you recommend like MEC or Seymour-Duncan and would they fit?

any opinions are welcome, cheers luke.

My first consideration would be to replace the passive HZ's with active EMG pickups - that's just me. I did it a while back with a Korean Spector so it was a pretty easy swap. You ought to be fine with a 9-volt system, but you could consider running it at 18-volts if your preamp is okay with it and there's enough room under the hood.
