Question I want to replace my EMG... help!

Sign in to disble this ad
I want to try out a different sound on my Modulus Q5 SweetSpot, which currently has an EMG pickup in it. Can anyone recommend another pickup that would fill the pickup space (4" wide x 1.5" tall)? I'm thinking about trying a Bartolini but I don't know what type would fit. Any suggestions would help out. Thanks!

What pickup do you want? I suggest try Seymour Duncan!

well... I want a lane poor (), but am looking for something that has a comparable sound. I heard that the SD basslines pickups were crapola, did I hear wrong? I was also considering the Bartolini M4. Any opinions on that one?

I can't comment on the pickups you're talking about, but on my home-made 6 strings, I have a SGD Lutherie pickup and I couldn't be happier.

Do a search for either David Schwab or SDG lutherie and shoot him a PM or e-mail.

David is a great person to deal with and IMHO his pickups are top notch for not that much $$$

There is a guy who used to work for lane who makes pickups that are just like em. There is a thread here about it.

You could just try a different type of EMG. You've probably got a 40DC in your bass now. Other types available - 40P5, 40J, 40CS, 40TW. Check EMG's website for descriptions/differences.

I think a 40TW would be a good choice for a single pickup bass - lots of flexibility.
