Ibanez SDGR Pickups

Sign in to disble this ad
right now i have an Ibanez SR300DX Soundgear 4-String, and it still has the active Ibanez pickups on it, i was wondering if it would be beneficial to change these pickups to a different brand such as Basslines, EMG, etc.

My style of playing is Deathmetal/Blackmetal/Metalcore. I still play alot of jazz/funk/blues aswell though. Any suggestions on what kind of pickups i should change to for the best range?

I thought they were passive pickups with active bass boost?

I think they sound fine anyway... If you're into metal, EMG's or Dimarzio? Jazz-type try Duncans or DiMarzio.

maybe i should just go back to playing the Spector again? it had EMG passive pickups on it, think those would sound better than the Ibanez pickups?

people say that passive EMG's sound "sterile" ... or "thin" I suppose.

btw, I have the SR300DX... for jazz, use the bridge and for metal use the neck/both

try looking for varied p and j pickups so you can get a wide variety of sounds. sorry I can't be more helpful. :[

Each pickup has it's own volume knob.
