Identifying these pups - Are they really Fender?

So here's the story. My friend found this bass body in a junkyard, stuck a Roytek neck onto it and defretted it. He quit playing a couple years ago, so he gave that bass to me. He claims the body was a Fender, but there's no serial number under the neck pocket. The pickups though look different from the Roytek pups i've seen so far, and more importantly they sound good. Here's some pics:





(note: they were black originally, i painted them white)


I get 10K on the bridge pup and 9.5K for the neck. Any thoughts?

Cellphone camera, sorry. Not claiming they are MIA, but maybe MIM or Japan or even a Squier?

not MIM or MIJ either, i don't think. definitely far-east cheapies, probably not fender at all.

No name Asian pickups. I had a few of those in my parts box.

They have a ceramic magnet on the bottom, and a steel bottom plate too.
