Installed my first set of pickups. Some questions.
I decided to change up my Geddy Lee jazz by swapping in some Quarter Pounders.
I've installed the new pickups and they sound just fine but there was a load of extra soldering already in the cavity.
As I removed the old pups I saw there was two copper plates underneath them that were soldered underneath the control plate. Also soldered to these were the bridge ground and the black cable from the bridge pup.
I desoldered all of this and just went with the diagram that came with the pups. I also soldered the bridge ground to the tone pot (like in the diagram).
Anyone more experienced wanna tell me what I undid? The bass sounded good before and all the knobs worked, and now they still work but I have a slightly hotter bass from the new pups.
The grave's a fine and private place,
but none I think do there embrace.
