Still a no go on install, looks I need to do a bit of wood work around the opening, the area where the screws go on the PUPS are to big to fit into the slot

And yes, pickups are almost always designed a certain way, even a P-bass pickup has a bass and treble side. |

The PJX's fit perfectly, but the J from the PJ set had the exact same problem you had. But I didn't want to remove wood because the finish is pretty good and I wanted to keep it that way. So I ended up filing down the pieces where the pickup screws go in and made it fit without routing the body. Make sure you tape off all the exposed areas that you don't want filed, and just file until it fits. Do a little at a time and keep checking so you don't over-file.

I know the EMG Select Jazz pickups have a funny sized neck pickup. The mounting tabs are the same width as the bridge. I know this because it's the same covers I use.

But I've dropped vintage style Fender pickups, Duncan QP's, and a couple different DiMarzios in there besides the EMG PJ's, PJX's, and the stockers, and everything fit except the DiMarzio Model J bridge and the EMG J bridge. | I wish everyone could agree on the size.
