Yes, I use that set up. J in the bridge position, and P in neck position. Like a Fender Aerodyne.

No sweat. I love this set up. I have a series/parallel switch on the P pup so it acts like either a slit p-pup or a single coil j-pup. Best of both worlds.

Oops, don't know what I was thinking. A p pickup won't fit in a jazz body ?

Yeah, You would have to rout, or have some one rout out for the P pup. Or pick up a body already routed for that set up off ebay, Warmoth, etc...
