J PU to balance P pounder

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone,
I recently changed my aerodyne stock P PU for a 1/4 pounder.
I'm fairly satisfied with the tone, however, now there's a huge difference between neck and bridge output. Besides that, when blending the bridge Pu to give some accent (something I could do with the stock PU's), it brings out absolutely nothing. Maybe these 2 Pu aren't compatible due to output difference or something, but bringing in one of the two to the other one being fully open, doesn't make a difference at all.
So, any suggestions on a new hotter or more compatible bridge PU that would offer more balance to the set?
Thanks

Balance

Yea, pretty much a question of balance.
Have to checked the OHM output of the pickups. Good chance the P's are putting out 6-7 OHMS, maybe more if their hot ones and the Jazz maybe 3.5-4 OHMS. so when you add the J to the already P output that drops it again. Remember OHMs drop as the load doubles.
I've always found P&J basses had that problem. But I've heard some great basses set up like that.

Last year, I've bought a SPB-3 (quarter pound) and a STK-J2B jazz pickup from bestbassgear.

They balance very well.
